Former community involvement included board membership on State Auditor Betty Montgomery Regional Advisory Board; Middletown Journal Editorial Advisory Board; Miami University Business Technology Advisory Board; and the Great Miami Valley Y.M.C.A. Board.

Accomplishments as Butler County Treasurer

Since taking office in June, 2007:

  • Nancy proposed legislation, House Bill 241- "Payment of County Expenses" and testified before State hearings for this banking legislation.  This law modified the old law governing the payment of County expenses by a financial transaction device.  It basically brought the law current with banking and payment technology. The bill was signed by the Governor Strickland July 17, 2008.

  • Nancy has supported and promoted initiatives generated from the State Treasurer's office.  Nancy hosted a "Rebuild Your Credit Seminar" in February 2008; a "Seniors and Money" seminar in May, 2008; and a "Borrow Outreach Day" in August 2008.  Additionally, she serves on the Neighborhood Housing Service Homeownership Preservation Task Force, as well as Lifespan's Credit Counseling Advisory Committee.  At the direct invitation of Attorney General Richard Cordray, Nancy participated in a Workforce One Forum video focusing on foreclosures and avoiding rescue scams.  The video was produced and aired in July, 2009.

  • Nancy has reduced staff in her office through attrition, from 26 employees to 17 full time and one part time; has increased the work week from 35 hours to 40; has reduced her annual operating budget to below 2003 levels; and has restructured her office to achieve greater efficiency.

  • Nancy has improved delinquent tax collection efforts while at the same time negotiating helpful payment plans for taxpayers with past due tax charges.

  • Under Nancy's direction, a County-wide merchant service has been implemented providing lower credit card convenience fees for users, and the opportunity for County departments to offer credit card payments.

  • Nancy has managed and maintained a strong, sound, and successful Investment Portfolio for Butler County, keeping as much in the market for as long as possible.  Nancy oversees a $220MM portfolio in her capacity as Treasurer.

  • Nancy has been a member of the County Treasurers' Association of Ohio Legislative Committee since 2007.

  • In 2009, Nancy was appointed Chairperson of the County Treasurers' Association of Ohio Audit Committee.

  • In 2010, Nancy was appointed Secretary/Treasurer of the Southwest Ohio District Treasurers' Association.

  • Treasurer Nix is frequently asked to speak at professional and civic organizations in Butler County, including Hamilton, Middletown and Fairfield Rotary Clubs, Lindenwald and Oxford Kiwanis Clubs, Princeton Manufactured Homes Association, and the Ohio Businesswomen's Keys to Success Awards Luncheon.  She has presented to State of Ohio House and Senate Committees, and to the City Councils of Fairfield, Middletown and Hamilton.
